The last day to withdraw from the majority of Spring 2024 courses has passed. If you are in a course that does not follow the standard DSU session dates and believe you are still eligible to withdraw, please email the Registrar’s Office directly (DSU-registrar@dsu.edu). If your course(s) withdrawal date has passed, but you have extenuating circumstances that prevented you from withdrawing before the posted deadline, you may request a back-dated withdrawal from one or more, or all of your courses for the term.

Qualifying extenuating circumstances include:
  • Health: physical injury and/or illness or mental health concerns that resulted in the inability to complete academic responsibilities within the specified academic term
  • Death of an immediate family member
  • Unforeseen personal hardship: natural disaster, homelessness, request to care for seriously ill immediate family member
Extenuating circumstances do not include:
  • Unaware of posted deadlines
  • Change of major
  • Poor performance in coursework or dropping a course to avoid failing grades
  • Deciding that school/work/life responsibilities are overwhelming

If you have extenuating circumstances, please proceed to the Late Drop or Withdrawal form, where you can explain the circumstances and attach supporting documentation.

If you do not have extenuating circumstances, we encourage you to utilize DSU support services to assist you in finishing out the semester. More information is available at https://dsu.edu/academics/academic-support-advising/index.html and https://dsu.edu/student-life/counseling-center/index.html.
